Crackley Hall Celebrated World Book Day
On Friday 7 March, we welcomed award-winning author Emma Carlisle and incredible illustrator OP Tabitha Marsh to Crackley Hall for a day full of brilliant, book fun.
As part of our celebration of World Book Day, children and staff came to school in their Jim Jams for a day of learning activities all focused on reading and books.
We started with an ‘In Celebration Of Books’ assembly, where the winners of the design-a-book-cover competition were announced - well done to Hugo for KS2 and Marie for KS1. Then after our visitors introduced themselves, Emma read her new book, A Home Is A Nest, to the school.
Throughout the day, the classes took part in a step-by-step workshop with our guests learning how to illustrate a book. Ms Holmes had also organsied a Masked Reader challenge for the children, which proved perplexing for many. Everyone also enjoyed a let's settle down for a story with hot chocolate and marshmallows treat, courtesy of the PTA.
Books open minds, spark imaginations and inspire lifelong learning and here at Crackley Hall we had a great time celebrating our love of books!
